An easy little project to make and so useful at this time of year.... "handwarmers".....
I used wool fabric from an old blanket and some linen.... both good choices for something that will be heated up in the microwave...
cut 2 nice size squares from the first fabric...so that the finished item will sit nice in the palm of the hand..mine were 12x12 cm...
cut a heart shape (or whatever shape you fancy) from the second fabric making sure it fits on the square with room to spare...I chose a heart as it is nearly Valentine's day....
secure the heart to the square...I used a machine but you could do it by hand ...stitch round a couple of times for a bit of a random look...
turn right sides together and sew the squares together leaving an opening ...
turn square out so right sides face outwards.....
repeat process again for second handwarmer...!
I used ceramic baking beans as they are heat resistant...put a nice handful in each handwarmer...
sew the opening shut securely so that no baking beans can escape...!
heat in microwave ...I put mine in for one and a half minutes but everyone's microwave will be different...
be careful not to leave it on too long as you don't want it scolding hot!!!!
pop into your pockets or just hold them and feel the warmth making your hands cosy ....
Enjoy !
Have a nice week...
